Dorothy was born on December 15, 1935, in Lincoln, Texas to Erna Louise Zoch and Rudolph Carl Winter. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Arthur and a retired medical secretary. Dorothy was very active in her church working in the ESL program; adult choir and thrift store. She loved her family, grandchildren and her church family very much and will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
Survivors include her daughter, Carrie Leyendecker of Groves; grandchildren, Kyle W. Leyendecker of Nederland and Brett Leyendecker of Port Neches; daughter-in-law, Terressa Follett of Jasper; sister-in-law, Margie Winter; and numerous nieces and nephews and other family members. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Howard Winter and Delbert Winter and his wife, Barbara Winter; and her son, Rev. Mark C. Follett.
A gathering of friends and family will take place from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2020, at Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 2400 5th Street, Port Arthur, TX 77640. A Funeral Service will be conducted by Pastor Tim Dinger at Trinity Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m. Saturday with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves under the direction of Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur, Texas. Due to COVID-19, the funeral home, church and cemetery require everyone to wear masks and practice Social Distancing.
In lieu of Flowers, “Memorial Contributions” can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Arthur.
