Bressan; Mario Dominico - It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our beloved daddy, brother and nonno on Sunday, January 22, 2012 in the West Coast General Hospital.
Mario, also known as Nonno to many, passed away peacefully after a brief illness with his daughters, grandchildren, two brothers Elio and Luigi and many family and friends by his side.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Angelina; two brothers Ricardo and Emillio and his son-in-law Paul Dewey. Mario is survived by his daughters: Raffaela Bressan (Scot Osborne), Nadia Skjoldal (Brad), Renata Bressan-Grumbach (Larry) and Brunis Botrokoff (Ron); grandchildren: Alexis and Lucas Dewey, Jessica and Megan Skjoldal, Gus, Giulia and Gina Grumbach and Haiden and Kailee Botrokoff; brothers: Elio (Rina) and Luigi Bressan of Port Alberni and brothers Toni (Rita) and Tullio Bressan and sister Bianca Bressan of Castelfranco Salvarosa, Italy as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives both in Canada and Italy.
Mario was born in Castelfranco Slavarosa Treviso, Italy on April 7th, 1934. Mario came to Canada in 1955 and eventually made his way to Port Alberni where he found work. He mostly worked at M&B Sproat Lake Division until 1974 when, due to an unfortunate accident that left him partially paralyzed, he retired. Our Daddy was a strong, brave man who lived for us girls and all of his grandchildren. He always had a big smile and sparkle in his eyes when he saw one of us and that will never be forgotten. Daddy fought hard for so many years to stay with us, but in the end, he was tired and Mamma came to bring him home to her.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Chapel of Memories Funeral Home, 4005-6th Avenue. Cremation has taken place. Stories and condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.chapelofmemories.ca. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mario’s memory may be made to the Fir Park Village/Echo Village Foundation, 4411 Wallace Street, Port Alberni, V9Y 7Y5.
The family would like to thank Dr.’s Ferguson, De Witt and O’Dwyer as well as the nurses and staff at the West Coast General Hospital and Fir Park Village for the exceptional care that Mario received from them all. Special thank you to Neelya Chase for her kind and attentive care to both Mario and the family during his hospital stay. Rest in peace Nonno.
