John grew up on a farm in rural Southern Ontario and coming from a large Scottish farming family had a strong influence in shaping John’s character. He learned early on the value of hard work, doing a job well and doing it right the first time, and the true value of a penny. He later came out to BC and found work in Port Alberni with the Lumber Control Board where he graded lumber and taught lumber grading. He became a true expert in his field and was often looked at as the go to person for questions. A devout family man and the true patriarch for his family, he instilled his values into his children at an early age.
A celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 11:00am at the Alberni Golf Club, 6449 Cherry Creek Rd, Port Alberni. Cremation has taken place.
