Jay had been battling Cancer since October 2020. It was in remission for a short time, then inevitably, it spread to other areas and then his bloodstream. He passed away due to complications related to his illness.
Jay came to Port Alberni with his mom as a child forty-six years ago from Nova Scotia. They went back to visit a few times, but Jay and his Mom called Port Alberni home. Jay met his best friend Todd by throwing a rock through his bedroom window when he was 7 years old. Forty-five years later and they still love each other like brothers.
Jay was a kind, loving, sweet, compassionate Spouse, Dad and Papa who loved his family deeply. They were everything to him. Jay loved to go exploring the backroads with his family and friends. Fishing with his children and grandchildren was one of the greatest joys of his life. He also loved cruising all over Vancouver Island with his longtime spouse of 35 years, in their little blue car.
Jay was predeceased by his mother Elaine Edinger, in her own home on January 2, 2017 due to throat cancer.
Jay is survived by his common law spouse of 35 years, Noni, their children Codi and Rebecca (Darren) and their grandchildren Aidyn, Bentley, Cory and Liam, as well as many other family and friends from Nova Scotia to Florida to California and Vancouver island.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Donations to the BC Cancer Agency would be appreciated. Thank you all for your love, support and comfort during this difficult time.
