JAYME: We grow up thinking that bad things don’t happen to good people, when my grandpa passed away all thoughts like that were instantly erased from my mind
My name is Jayme and I am his firstborn granddaughter 
ZOEY: And I am Zoey and I am the second born grandchild and one of eight
Bedstefar loved all of his grandchildren unconditionally, and we can prove this with a number of memories...
Saturday mornings at Bedstefar and Bedstemar’s house were always fun and I know as a child I anticipated them all the time!
JAYME: First Kole and Drake would run into Grampa’s bedroom and tickle his toes to wake him up!
Then Zoey and I would be waiting in the kitchen with small brushes, hair barettes and water to give Grandpa a hairdo... well what we could manage with his small head of hair!
ZOEY: We would all enjoy Bestemar’s outstanding breakfast and then way back in the day Grampa would occaisionally have the odd cigarette, but Jayme being the trouble maker she was would snatch it from Grampa and stick it into his coffee.. His bad habit soon disappeared!
Other young memories I have of Bedsetfar is when Jayme and I would sit on his lap in his Lazy Boy chair and he’d sing his “Grampa Girls” song and bounce us on his lap.. Or teach us short Danish songs
JAYME: Then there was Kole and Drake! Who Grampa let build swords out of kindling and take them into the living room and they would test them out by having sword fights with Grampa !
Over all whether it be pulling his hair to try and manage a barette in it or having sword fights, Bedstefar never once had a complaint, he would just sit in his chair with a smile and be content with the whole world.. and it was grandma chasing us around and threatnin us with the wooden spoon!
ZOEY: I am so happy that I was able to celebrate my Grandparent’s 50th anniversary with them. For all of you who were there I am sure that you had a great time. 
One of the most important things that I took from my Granparent’s 50th anniversary was that love is strong and unconditional, which is what my Bedstefar and Bestemar shared together and what my Bedstefar shared with his whole family
Grandma even though Bestefar wasn’t able to share your 51st anniversary with you he is in a better place and with you in spirit and even though he is not with you now you two will always be together

JAYME: I will always remember him for that smile on his face, that smile that would automatically make me smile, that smile which was passed down to each of our fathers, who carry those amazing qualities our bestefar had. Such as the smiling, the humor and of course the lack of hair.

ZOEY: (Point at your dad) Even you dad!!!
I am so lucky to have had him there for the first 18 years of my life which included milestones such as being there to meet all 8 of his extremely good looking grandchildren

JAYME: And his 50th anniversary, Cale, Zoey and my graduation day. And a countless amount of memories such as camping trips, family get-togethers and much more. 

ZOEY: But most imporatantly we are so luckey to have been blessed with his love.
We love you Grandpa

Dear Irene and Family
Our  deepest condolence to you Irene and family.
We, Karen and Richard are very happy that we had a wonderfull  time last time we saw each other, in the Autumn.
We had a very good vacation with you all, and we will always remember Erik and family as hospitality and Your kindly way to treat us, and for all the fun we have had together.

This is Dad's eulogy from Brian, Dean, Einar and Kurt

Our dad was a wonderful father, husband, grandpa and friend.   
He was the best – period.   We have lost one of our best friends
There was not a day that would go by that he wouldn’t make someone smile.  That was his greatest gift to the world, - bringing smiles and laughter to the world.   
To know dad was a gift.  All of our lives are richer because of dad.  We are all better people because of dad.  
If everyone in the world would try to be more like our father, there would be no wars, --- only laughter and the occasional tinkle of lucky lagers and a loud Skole now and then.
He had the gift to make everyone feel good.  His laughter, smile would make you feel at ease.  We would laugh with him and sometimes we would laugh at him.    He would always laugh at himself.   And he often had good reason to.
There was not a hateful bone in his body.
Dad came to Canada looking for a better life, and he ended up making our lives better.
Dad taught us to work hard, be honest, take responsibility, and be kind and to help others.    We could never be as great as dad.   Dad we will try to be more like you.  
He and mom found each other and shared a bond that will never be broken.  Together they made a happy home where everyone was welcome.   Erik always made sure you had a drink in your hand and Irene food in your stomach.  They were a dynamic duo.
When someone came by, No matter the time of day or what Dad was doing, he would drop whatever he was doing to BS and share a laugh or two.
Mom - We share your loss.  We share your memories. Mom, we will all be there for you.
His brother Einar, was his friend and link to Denmark, Dad loved to snak da dansk with uncle Einar.  And reminisce about his family back in Denmark.  Uncle Einar, thank you and your family for the joy you brought Dad.
Dad taught us to never hate.  His favourite saying was “ if someone does something bad to you – Throw them a loaf of Bread”
As a young boy – that just sounded silly, - but now as an adult we understand -   This was dad’s core belief – it’s better to give, to love to share than to spend energy on fights or disputes.   
If he ever got mad, it usually only lasted a few minutes, and then there would be a laugh, a joke to ease the tension.  
He loved life.  He loved being with family with friends.  Happiness for dad was just sitting and BS’ing with anyone and everyone.
If puttering was an Olympic sport – Dad would be a gold medalist.  He could be busy at nothing for days.  He ploughed his garden, and mowed his lawn just days before being hospitalised.    Once he was finished his puttering, you would often find him sitting listening to his favourite news radio program at volume 10.
He had a good life.  A great wife.  4 healthy boys -  his own brothers and sisters nieces and nephews,  Friends and family that adored him.
He embraced our spouses – as his own daughters and welcomed them into his heart.  Meika, Sharon, Colleen and Tia.  
The last 19 years of dad’s life were especially  filled with joy. And that Joy was brought by his grand children.  He loved them more than life.   His energy would lift whenever they were in the room.  He loved spending time with them, camping, family events and just being with them.
Jayme, Zoey, Cale, Drake, Kole, Kyana, Brayden and Addison.  Your Grandpa loved you so much and you brought him so much happiness.  
Dad was a great man.  He was a hard worker, a great dad, great husband, great friend, and great person.
Dad we miss you.  Heaven is now a much better place with you in it.  A much happier, friendlier place.

Words can`t describe how sorry we are for your loss. Erik was such a lovely person, we will miss him very much, for his wisdom and laughter.We are so great full for all the wonderful time, we had with you, memorys we will keep in our harts always.If all people were like Erik, the world would be like Paradise. I just spoke with my mom and she told me that your dad just passed away; my deepest condolences to you and your family Brian. My Papa always spoke very highly of your dad both as the fine gentleman and human being he was and for the hard working guy he was in the bush.  
I hope you, your brothers and your mom are taking care.

Dear Irene and family, it touches as deeply that Erik has left us. We can't imaging how it is for you to say goodbye to your life companion and beloved husband but we trust that you have all the best support from your family.

Dear Irene and family, So sorry to hear of your loss, he was a wonderful man. We had so many good times with you all at Einer and Sues and with Bernice Morris, Peggy and Frank and I remember how you love going to Pie Lake near where we live and fishing. He will be greatly missed.

Erik's smile, laughter and kindness will always be remembered and I am glad to have known him.  His love for his family was always evident.  I'm so sorry for your loss.  I know how hard this is and I wish you strength and comfort.
