Our dear David left us suddenly Friday morning. He leaves a large family to mourn his loss; children: Sandra (Steve) and grandson Salish, Scott and Steven (Sharon) and granddaughters Savannah & Scarlett; his loving wife Maureen, step-sons Douglas Redford, Michael (June) Redford, grandsons Taylor and Hayden Redford, sisters: Marie (Charles) Krog, Mavis (Warren) Horsnell, Margaret (Hubert) Teerink, May Jordt, brother Alex (Rosemarie) Tranfield, sister-in-law Robby Tranfield, half siblings Frances "Frankie" Tranfield & Al Tranfield; brother-in-law John Forbes, mother-in-law Isabelle Craig, sister-in-law Pat (Tom) McMillan, many dear nieces and nephews, many friends and his good buddy, his cat Rocky. He was predeceased by his parents George & Pauline Tranfield, brother John Tranfield, niece Kathy Norma Tranfield, nephew Brian Krog, brother-in-law Fred Jordt, half-siblings; Jack Tranfield, Cynthia McMillan & Rose Hopkins, sister-in-law Catherine Forbes and father-in-law Gavin Craig.
David was an optimistic, friendly, kind and happy person; he enjoyed visiting with friends and strangers alike. He loved children and made friends with them on sight. He volunteered with COPS for a number of years and then found the Western Vancouver Island Industrial Heritage Society where he spent many happy hours working on the old trucks, participating in parades, truck shows and just plain having fun.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and helping anyone who needed a helping hand, day or night. He led an interesting and at times challenging life, but never let anything get him down for long. He leaves a big hole in our lives and will be truly missed. Cremation. No service by request. Special thanks to Kerry the Handy Dart Driver and the paramedics for their heroic efforts on David’s behalf, his friends Colin Stirzaker, Jake Heid, Bob East and all his friends at the I.H.S.
