Christopher Terry West peacefully chipped his way into the great sand trap in the sky on January 15, 2024, aged 77, conveniently timed during the final minutes of the Bills’ game in order that his departing spirit be able to fix the outcome and ensure he won his final NFL bet.
Terry was born January 23, 1946 in New Westminster to his mother, Monica “Bunny” Anne Richmond and father Trevor James West . With a father in the Air Force, Terry spent much of his childhood living on or near bases in BC, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, and France. Terry eventually found his way to a career as a land surveyor, working on projects across BC. He was an accomplished curler in his early days, but eventually found his true passion on the golf course. He built strong friendships and an enviable handicap that took him on many travel adventures, and countless rounds locally at the Nanaimo Golf Course. A hole in one on the 17th cemented his reputation as Nanaimo’s Greatest Golfer, and if you have an issue with that you will have to take it up with him at his new address.
Terry was predeceased by his wife Sherry (nee Arman), brother David West, and step-son Mike Torney. He leaves behind his son, Benjamin West (Margot), daughter, Courtney Martin (Paul), and step-daughter Dawn Torney. He is also survived by grandchildren Lachlan and Eloise West, Grace, Jack and Evelyn Martin, step-grandchildren Raylee and Cody Flood, and a 24 year old Dodge Dakota in need of extensive brake and transmission work.
