Amelia Loretta Iacuzzo was born in Dolegna del Collio, Italy on June 15th, 1933. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side on June 27th, 2023, at the age of 90 years.
She is predeceased by her parents Carlo Veliscig and Amalia Luis; her sister and brother-in-law, Anarcisa and Bepo; and nephew, Rino. Amelia is survived by her husband, Ado; her daughters Sonia and Sandra (Sean); and her three grandchildren Ryan, Liam, and Owen. She is also survived by her nephews Carlo (Angela) and Alan (Susan), and niece Morena (Jim) along with their children.
Amelia came to Port Alberni in 1959 after having just married Ado in Pozzuolo del Friuli, Italy. In 64 wonderful years of marriage, together they enjoyed Sunday trips to the beach, fishing at Elsie Lake, and camping at Rathtrevor. Amelia was known for her gardening, warm hugs, cooking and baking, and passion for bocce. She was a loving and deeply devoted wife, mother, and Nonna who freely shared her playfulness and sense of humour with family and friends. It was her integrity and faith that gave her courage, strength, and hope in all her days.
There are no words to describe the gratitude we have towards the staff at Echo Village. Over the past three years, we have deeply appreciated their genuine thoughtfulness, hard work, and care for our family.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 11th, 2023, at Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Amelia’s name may be made to the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia.
Our family is so very thankful for the many wishes, prayers, and kindness given to us during this time. We will forever cherish Amelia’s beautiful spirit within our hearts.
