Velma R. Word

Mrs. Word was a kind and loving woman who cherished her family and her pets.

Velma will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Word is preceded in death by her parents, Guy B. and Inez Roberts Thomas; one brother, Charles D. Bond; one sister, Laura Elizabeth “L.E.” Polk; one son-in-law; Joe Fulks; one brother-in-law, Woodrow “Woody” Polk; one grandson, John Russell King; and one great-grandson, Jeffrey Kyle Goodwin.

Survivors include her husband, Mr. Charles Word; two daughters, Linda Fulks and Gloria (Phillip) Poindexter, all of Poplarville, MS; one brother, Guy E. “Ed” (Mary Alice) Thomas; one sister-in-law, Dottie Bond of Carriere, MS; ten grandchildren, twenty three great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Friends and relatives are invited to her funeral ceremony at 2:00 p.m., October 28, 2012 at White Funeral Home, 315 Highway 11 South, Poplarville, Mississippi 39470 with interment being held privately.  Her family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services Sunday at the funeral home

In lieu of flowers and customary remembrances, memorials may be directed to the S.P.C.A., 1700 Palestine Road, Picayune, Mississippi 39466.
