Thomas Lee “Tom” Polk departed this life into God’s presence on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at the age of 80. Tom was born to W.O. and Bessie Polk on July 24, 1943 and was a lifelong resident of Pearl River County. After high school, he joined the National Guard and was a Computer Operator for several government contractors before retiring from Naval Oceanographic Office. In his spare time, Tom enjoyed fishing, completing jigsaw puzzles and taking his family on yearly vacations to the Smoky Mountains. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his first wife, Christine Polk; second wife; Henrietta Polk; two sisters, Betty Joe Barber and Vera Wheat; and four brothers, Willie Polk, Woodrow Polk, Wyatt Polk and Vernon Polk.
Left to forever cherish his memory are his daughter, Angela (James) Broom; Grandchildren; Nicole Broom and Joshua Broom; his brothers, Milton Polk and Willard (Jeanette) Polk numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and his special friend Katie.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024 beginning at 11:00 AM at White Funeral Home in Poplarville. Friends are invited to join the family for visitation from 10:00 AM until the service begins. Burial will follow at Kennedy Cemetery.
Mr. Tom’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Blueberry Hill Personal Care Home and Pearl River County Nursing Home for the care they provided during the last few years of his life.
