She is preceded in death by her husband of 25 years; her parents and grandparents; two brothers and two sisters.
We want to take the time to celebrate what an amazing mom, wife, grandma and great grandmother Ruby was because really we should be celebrating the life of such a wonderful person.
She was married for 25 years to her husband, Roy, who passed away of cancer... they spent the first several years of their marriage giving a home and love to a total of 13 foster children. She was supposed to be unable to conceive and they adopted 2 boys 4 years apart. Patrick and Michael. Soon after Steve was born and nearly 2 years later Denise was born.
Ruby was president of the PTA, a substitute teacher, and a grocery store clerk.
After Roy's death, she raised the children, ages 9 to 16, on her own.
She was that parent who was second mom to every child in the neighborhood and her door was always open.
She was a strong willed, but gentle lady with rarely a harsh word for anyone. She is loved by all who met her. She was really a quiet natured person despite being so visible.
Ruby had been unwell for over 15 years with the past 5 years finally tiring her out, breaking the strong will. In the past few weeks, her health and determination had declined to the point that she felt she couldn't continue the fight. She entered hospice care on May 10 saying, "I'm tired and I want to go home and see Daddy."
Ruby was a Christian and looked forward to going to Heaven where there is no more sorrow and pain.
She is survived by 4 children, two daughters in law and one son in law, 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, various nieces, nephews and one sister-in-law. She will be missed by many.
