Bob was born October 26, 1946, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Charles Ralph Morel and Mildred “Millie” Ackerman Morel. Bob graduated from Francis T. Nicholls High School in 1964. He then attended Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, class of 1969.
It was while he was at SLU that he met the love of his life and future wife of almost 50 years, Sharon Lynn Greco. Bob and Sharon were married on May 27, 1969, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Miami Beach, Florida.
Bob had a long and varied career. He began with Advance Paper Company in New Orleans, where he worked for over 30 years, eventually becoming President of the company. His last position before retiring was with Edward Jones in Winter Haven, Florida. In 2015, he and Sharon retired to South Mississippi to be closer to their children and grandkids. He enjoyed outdoor activities, such as boating, fishing and visiting the beach. However, his favorite activity was spending time with his family while listening to oldies, telling “dad” jokes and enjoying a glass or two of wine.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved Sharon on May 4, 2019, and also by his older sister Carolyn DeBlanc. He is survived by his loving family: his two children and their families: daughter Michelle Morel Cambre, son-in-law Lucien (Skip) Cambre and grandchildren Courtney and Robert Cambre; son Micheal Paul Morel, daughter-in-law Jessica Ferguson Morel and grandchildren Jade and Johnna Morel; dear sister Joan Morel Carver; younger brother Charlie Morel; sister-in-law Sandra Greco Bauer and many nieces and nephews.
A small, graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 11:00 AM, preceded by a visitation at 10:30 at Forest Lawn Cemetery (1751 Gause Blvd W, Slidell, LA 70460). All family and friends are welcomed to attend.
