Jerry "Buddy" Argel Amacker departed this life into God’s presence on Thursday, December 07, 2023 at his home, at the age of 88. Jerry was born to Asa and Maxine Amacker on April 07, 1935 and was a lifelong resident of Poplarville. Early in his career, he spent many years building highways and infrastructure in the greater New Orleans area before starting his own septic business in Poplarville that he operated for forty years. Buddy was an avid reader, enjoyed brain teasers and loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren. Buddy was a member of First United Church of Poplarville and will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
In addition to his parents, he his preceded in death by his brothers, Joe Bob Amacker and Freddie Paul Amacker; his sisters, Joyce Talley (Merle Ray), Joann Talley (Glenn), Janice Amacker and Linda Whitten (James); and his sister-in-law, Shirley Amacker.
Left to forever cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, Marilyn Amacker; sons, Jerry D. Amacker (Sheila) and Michael L. Amacker (Chellie); daughters, Melanie Smith (Tim) and Michelle Russo; grandchildren, Danielle, Wally, Chealsea, Payton, Remi, Tyler, Michael, Colby and Trevor; brother, Lionel Amacker; sister, Lois Farmer (Clelly); 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Colby Meadows, will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at First United Church of Poplarville at 1:00 PM. Friends are invited to join the family for visitation from noon until the service begins. Interment will immediately follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
