James Deward Rigney

Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church, Poplarville on Monday, August 3, 2015 at 10:00 am with burial to follow at Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Ovett, MS at 2:30 pm. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Sunday at White Funeral Home, Poplarville.

Mr. Rigney was born March 24, 1930 in Jones County (Landrum Community), Mississippi to Willis Rigney and Ada Landrum Rigney. A 1948 graduate of Ellisville High School, he attended Jones County Community College and graduated from Mississippi State University. He was a United States Navy veteran. He worked for the Department of Agriculture and was an Insurance Agent with New York Life and Mississippi Farm Bureau. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Poplarville.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother Willis Charles "Sonny" Rigney. .

Family members include his wife, Bena Ford Rigney; five children, Jan Ervin (Billy Ray), James Rigney (Ann), Ronnie Rigney (Renay), Tim Rigney (Gina), and Mark Rigney (Beth); one sister, Willie Vee Barney, sixteen grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Michael Sullivan, B.J. Ervin, Luke Ervin, Ford Rigney, Sam Cockroft, Ryan Rigney, Matt Bates, and James Gordon Rigney.
