James “Leo” Ladner departed this life into God’s presence on Monday, June 10, 2024 at the age of 89. Leo was born in Lumberton, Mississippi on July 08, 1934 to Edgar Ladner Sr. and Sarah Carroll Ladner. At an early age, he started his career as a water well driller and was the owner of L&L Supply Company for more than fifty years. Leo was a pillar of his community. He is known for his sharp mind as he was referred to as a “living genius”, his love of classic cars, and his love of life and the great time he had living it. Leo will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Lorraine Ladner; companion, Tammy Ford; Brothers, Ed Ladner Jr., Bill Ladner, Robert Ladner, and Calvin Ladner.
Left to forever cherish his memory are his children, grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Jesse Ladner and Bro. John Sapp, will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Lumberton. Friends are invited to join the family for visitation from 9:00 am to 11 am. Burial will immediately follow at Lumberton City Cemetery with Matt McCoy, Matt Renot, Blake Moore, Brett Moore, Bradley Harper and Christopher Lumpkin assisting as pallbearers.
