He was a graduate of Poplarville High School, Pearl River Community College and the University of Southern Mississippi. He began his coaching career at Pearl River Community College in 1964 and retired in 1992 after 28 years of coaching football and golf. His hobbies included golf and fishing. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed the companionship that golf afforded.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norfleet and Lee Morris; his six brothers, Joe, Clyde, Wille Ray, Robert, Don and Pat; three sisters, Emma Lea, Bertie Lou and Bonnie; a host of nieces and nephews; and a daughter-in-law, Paula.
He leaves his wife, Ann, after 65 years of marriage; his son, Allen, his three children, Matthew (Tabitha), Scott (Jessica) and Whitney (fiancé’ Tatum); his five precious great-granddaughters, Rylee, Macy, Claire, Harper Kate, Anna Scott and Caroline to cherish his memory.
He enjoyed life and will be missed by those that knew and loved him.
A graveside memorial service officiated by Reverend Dr. Eric Pridmore, will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023 at the Poplarville City Cemetery at 3:00 PM.
