Emily Thatch of Poplarville, Mississippi left this life into God’s presence on Monday, August 7, 2023, at the age of 71. Emily was born in Poplarville to E. B. Williams Jr. and Mowetha S. Williams on April 14, 1952. Emily was raised in Poplarville where she was very active in The First United Methodist Church until moving to attend The Mississippi University for Women. She earned a bachelor’s degree in medical records and was a long time Medical Records Librarian. Emily built a life with her true love, John E. Thatch. They were married for 40 years until he passed away. She was an active member of Central Baptist Church of Hattiesburg until she fell ill and was no longer able to attend.
Emily is preceded in death by her father, E. B. Williams Jr.; her husband, John E. Thatch and an infant daughter, Amanda Thatch.
Left to forever cherish her memory are her mother, Mowetha S. Williams; Daughter, Frannie Parker (Wade); grandchildren, Blaine, John Luke, Lainey, Reese, Sarah and Callie; two brothers, E. Bragg Williams III (Linda) and David D. Williams. Emily also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, officiated by Rev. Rusty White, at 10:30 am at White Funeral Home in Poplarville. The family invites friends to join for a brief visitation beginning at 10:00 am until the service begins. Burial will immediately follow at the Poplarville City Cemetery assisted by Wade Parker, Blaine Parker, John Luke Parker, Brad Williams, Christopher Williams and John Baxter serving as pallbearers.
