Bobby was born April 10, 1954 in Poplarville to James Audie Smith and Hazel Reyer Smith. He was a retired welder and an United States Army Veteran. He was also a volunteer firefighter with Poplarville Fire Department and North Central Fire Department. Bobby was a former special deputy with the Pearl River County Sheriff's Department - serving under Sheriff Lorance Lumpkin. Bobby loved visiting with people, being well remembered for airing up bicycle tires at Hall's Service Station.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Mona Smith Jackson; three siblings, Virginia Ann Ward, Buddy Smith, and Audron Lavelle Smith; along with one great grandson, Blake Matthew LaPorte.
Family members include two children, Cindy (David) Smith, Lavelle (Ashlyn) Smith; one brother, John D. (Sandra) Smith; the mother of his children, Laura Jean; grandchildren, Emma, Rebell, Sophie, Nicholas (Kimi), Roxanne (Dustin), Laura (Garrett), Courtney, John; great grandchildren, Vash, Lucy, Niko, Audie Jean, Blakelynn, Aiden, Addison, Carter, and Waylon. He is also survived by one great goddaughter, Peyton; and a host of extended family, friends, and neighbors.
Funeral services will be held at White Funeral Home (315 Highway 11 South, Poplarville, MS, 39470) on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends and have visitation from 10:00 am until services, Tuesday at the funeral home.
