William Baxter Tucker, age 88, died Friday, February 01, 2013 at NMMC in Tupelo. He was a member of the Victory Life Center in New Albany. He was a Retired Captain in the U.S. Army and Retired from the U.S. Postal Service and served in the U.S. Marines in WWII. He was a member of the American Legion Post 16 Pontotoc and the Pontotoc Marine Corp League.
Services will be at 11 AM Monday, February 4, 2013 at Browning Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc with Bishop Raymond Bishop and Bro. Mark Bishop officiating; burial will follow in the West Heights Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years: Minnie Cupp Tucker of Pontotoc, MS; his children: Joe Tucker (Beverly) of Pontotoc, MS, Yolanda Tucker-Hall (Bobby) of New Albany, MS, Mark Tucker (Sherry Phillips) of Pontotoc, MS, Tim Tucker (Lorena) of Pontotoc, MS and Eric Tucker (Anna) of Pontotoc, MS; one sister: Louise Tucker of Pontotoc, MS; thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and three former foreign exchange students: Frederic Martinez of France, Roger Seidel of Germany and Tharatip Aramcharoen of Thailand.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Elbert B. Tucker and Annie Mae Waldo Tucker, his sister: Hazel Sullivan and his grandson: Lance Cpl. Marc Lucas Tucker.
Pallbearers will be: Wayne Butler, Joseph Tucker, Beau Tucker, Ethan Tucker, Stacy Cowsert and Shane Cowsert.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 PM Sunday and from 9 to 11 AM Monday at the funeral home.
