Tommie was a Community Correspondent for the Pontotoc Progress for many years and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Pontotoc County. She was married to the love of her life, Rev. Lawayne Cooper for 51 years. Spending time with her family and friends is what she enjoyed most.
Tommie is survived by three children: Ann Mooneyhan (Rodney), Jeff Cooper (Kim) and Danny Cooper (Kelly), five grandchildren: Tiffany Nunnelee (Eric), Matthew Cooper, Morgan Baird (Joey), Makenna Cooper and Jessalynn Cooper, and six great-grandchildren: Caleb and Corbin Nunnelee, Alex, Avery and Ben Baird, and Josie Miles. She is also survived by her brother, Gary Smith (Theresa) and her sister-in-law, Mildred Grant (Oneal) and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Lawayne Cooper and her parents Russell and Effie Smith.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 5 to 8 PM at Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc and from 10 AM until service time Friday.
Services will be held at 11 AM Friday, January 5, 2024 at Browning Funeral Home, 141 W. Oxford Street, Pontotoc, MS. Officiating will be her grandson, Bro. Matthew Cooper and her pastor, Bro. Frank Wilder.
Interment will be in the Center Hill Baptist Church cemetery.
