Roger Dale Wood, age 61, died Thursday, September 16, 2010 at the VA Medical Center in Memphis, TN. He was a Baptist and an Honorably Discharged Vietnam Veteran who served in the Marines. He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion, a page for Governor Barnett, a gifted pianist who played and gave his testimony at numerous churches. He was a member of the 4H where he received numerous awards at the state and national level, and working installing metal buildings around the US. He enjoyed growing roses, hunting and fishing and spending time with his granddaughter Atlee Wood. He was the recipient of a liver transplant.
Services will be at 4:30 PM Saturday, September 18, 2010 at County Line Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Cobb officiating; burial will follow in the County Line Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife: Deborah Wood of Randolph, MS, two daughters: Lola Knight (Steve) and Melanie Gray; two sons: Glen D. Wood (Kim) and James T. Wood.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Cecil Wood and Odell Walls Wood.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home and from 3 to 4:30 Saturday at County Line Baptist Church.
