Robert Francis Dougherty, 90, passed away Friday, April 17, 2015 at Pontotoc Health and Rehab. He was born November 18, 1924 in Norwich, CT where he graduated from The Norwich Free Academy. In 1943 he was drafted into the US Army where he served in WWII, Pacific Theater Alaska. He joined the United States Park Police in Washington, D.C. in 1949 and retired as a Captain in 1971. He was a member of First Baptist Church Pontotoc.
Funeral Service will be at 2:00PM Monday, April 20, 2015 at Browning Funeral Home with Dr. Ken Hester officiating. Burial will be in the Pontotoc City Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Dougherty of Pontotoc; two sons, Police LT. Patrick (Leticia) Dougherty, of Houston, TX, and Bill (Cathy) Russell of Pontotoc; two daughters, Julie Rosado of Memphis and Tammy (Dr. Steve) Montgomery of Pontotoc; nine grandchildren, Captain Robert C. (Sarah) Dougherty, US Army; Thomas P. Dougherty, Elizabeth M. Dougherty, Luis O. (Delanie) Rosado, Ana Lauren Rosado, Stephen R. Montgomery, Shannon C. Montgomery, Kyle Russell and Kayla E. Russell; one great grandson, Micheal Andrew Rosado; one nephew, Andrew (Stacey) McKnight and two nieces Julia (Mario) Parra and Shannon (Anthony) DeMonti.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eula Elizabeth Dougherty; his parents, Thomas Patrick and Catherine Agnes Dougherty and one sister, Helene C. Linkus.
Pallbearers will be Robert Dougherty, Thomas Dougherty, Stephen Montgomery, Luis Rosado, Kyle Russell and Marlin Inmon.
Visitation will be from 5:00PM to 8:00PM Sunday, April 19, 2015 and Monday from 12:30pm until service at Browning Funeral Home.
