Ollie Vaughn age 78, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. She was born September 25, 1938 to William Oscar Vaughn and Frances Wise Andrews. She graduated from Ecru High School in 1957, and was a member of the Ecru High School Basketball team. She was the owner of G & V Frame Shop. She was a God Mother to many children and enjoyed basketball, Elvis, traveling, politics, football and was an avid Ole Miss fan.
Services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc with Bro. Billy Foster and family members officiating; burial will follow in the Ecru Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her three sisters, Pat Smitherman (Bill) of Olive Branch, MS, Barbara Kidd of Lone Star, MS, Faye Mays of Pontotoc, MS; two brothers, Larry Young (Kay) of Ingomar, MS and Jerry Young of Houston, MS; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Blanche Tackitt, and Melvie Myrick and two brothers, Gene Vaughn, and J.W. Nubbie; and a special friend, Katherine Shuler.
Pallbearers will be Billy Lee Tackitt, Mike Myrick, Patrick Smitherman, Frankie Paepke, Scotty Kidd and Randy Griffin. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Bishop, Dr. Steve Montgomery, Tommy Myrick, Jimmy Glen Nubbie, Stephen Young, David Nubbie, Cory Young, Greg Vaughn and Allen Whitten.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 PM Friday and from 10 to 2 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
