Merle Lee Williams, age 87, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Diversicare in Ripley, MS. He was born September 4, 1931 to Leroy Williams and Geneva Brandon Williams. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Merle was the owner of Merle Williams Auto Service for over 40 years. He was a member of the Pontotoc Masonic Lodge #81 and a Shriner. Merle enjoyed working on cars, boating, fishing and camping.
Services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Browning Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Jones and Rev. Philip Jackson officiating, burial will follow in the Victory Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is honored to assist the family.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Recie Matkins Williams; two daughters, Linda Williams of Brandon, FL and Brenda Williams Gotlen (Jimmie Allred) of Seffner, FL; two grandsons, Danny Todd and Jason Todd (Amanda), both of Pontotoc, MS; and four great grandchildren, Kaycee Todd, Mason Todd, Zachary Todd and Averie Todd.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his three brothers, Earl Williams, Preston Williams and Glen Williams and a great-grandson, Collin Joseph Todd.
Pallbearers will be Mike Montgomery, Red Tutor, Chris Matkins, Ricky Hill, Mark Jones and Steve Bramlett.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday and from 1 to 2 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
