He graduated from Pontotoc High School in 1973, where he enjoyed playing in the band. Marty went on to attend college at the University of Mississippi, and received a degree in Pharmacology. After working as a staff pharmacist for ten years at NMMC in Tupelo, MS, Marty took a position at the Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis, TN. Years later he was honored with the position of Pharmacist System Analyst. Having served 31 years in the field of pharmacy, he decided to retire.
Some of Marty’s happiest childhood memories were spending time with his Grandmother, “Mama Conlee”, and his Aunt, Ferrell Dean.
Marty loved Ole Miss Football and going to car shows with his wife, Debbie Wren Winter and his parents. He had a special love for classic Mustangs. Another passion of Marty’s was adopting dogs that needed homes and nurturing them.
Visitation will be Monday, October 2, 2023 from 12 to 1:30 P.M. at Browning Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside memorial service will be held on Monday, October 2, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at the Pontotoc City Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc, MS is honored to assist the family with the arrangements.
Marty was preceded in death by his parents, and his older brother, Ronald Wayne Winter.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie; brother, Don Winter (Mary Jane); and sister-in-law, Sherrie Winter. Further survivors are brothers-in-laws, Charles Wren (Ricki) and Robert Wren. Marty had nieces and nephews that he leaves with fond memories, the nieces are: Jennifer Wardlaw (Brad), Heather Corbitt (Jay), Anna Slagle (Richie), Mollie Wright (Joshua), Kate Winter, April Steele and Micah Williams (Matt) and nephews, Ron Winter (Emily), Chris Winter (Rebekah) and Dustin Wren (Stephanie). He had several great nieces and nephews as well. Marty and Debbie fur babies held a special place in his heart, Ozzie and Gracie.
