Louis Hugh Johnson, age 96, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at his residence. He was born December 20, 1921 to Nettie Hughes Johnson and Burl Johnson. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, Korean War and the Vietnam War. He retired from the U.S. Army after serving over 31 years. He was a member of the Alee Shrine Temple, the Fleming Masonic Lodge, the VFW and the American Legion. He was also a member of New Life Free Will Baptist Church. He enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching the wildlife, horses and his family and grandkids was his pride and joy.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Johnson of Houlka, MS; his daughters, Donna Lively (Doug) Augusta, GA and Carol Radovich (Mike) of Princeton, NJ; one step-daughter, Dennie Kelly of Cooperas Cove, TX; one sister; Roberta Johnson; two brothers, Robert Johnson and Glen Johnson; five grandchildren, Zachary Lively (Amber), Will Lively (Rachel), Lizzie Richardson (Scott), Taylor Lively (Cecilia) and Paul Radovich; eight great-grandchildren, Izabelle, Zoey, Azalea, Juliana, Stella and Eli Lively, and Olivia and Duke Richardson; step-son-in-law, Keith Atkinson five step-grandchildren, Emily Whitten (Timothy), Scott Atkinson, Jonathan Kelly (Crissy), Erin Kelly and Lindsey Kelly; and five step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday from 1 to 3 PM at Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc with burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Augusta, GA. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is assisting the family with the local arrangements and Elliott Funeral Home will handle the arrangements in Augusta, GA.
