Johnny Mae Turner, age 81, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at NMMC in Tupelo. She was a member of Cooke Memorial Baptist Church. She was a retired nurse aide at the Pontotoc Hospital and was working at G&T Auto Sales/Houlka-Houston Water Association. She enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking for them, watching the Young and the Restless, and making sure all her family’s needs were met.
Services will be at 2 PM Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Browning Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc with Rev. Junior Ritchie officiating, burial will follow in the Williams/Gershorm Cemetery. Browning Fuenral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter: Rhonda Turner of Tupelo, MS; three sons: Garry Turner (Terri) and Donald Gus Turner (Mamie) both of Houlka, MS and Tim Turner (Gail) of Houston, MS; five sisters: Maggie D. Swindle of Woodland, MS, Joan Wallace of Memphis, TN, Gladys Greer of Hernando, MS, Billie Adams of New Orleans, LA and Debra K. Owen of Houston, TX; one brother: Herman D. Turner of Benton, MS; eight grandchildren: Martha Sue Turner, Michael Glenn Ford (Kim), Melissa Caldwell (Tony), Leeann Lesley (Rob), Tanna Turner (Jeremy), Dixie Turner, Justin Turner (Ashley) and Gerren Turner (Stephanie); and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Deewitt Turner and Zula Mae Smith Turner; her husband: I.A. Turner, Jr.; and two sisters: Dorothy Jean Turner and Della Faye Woods.
Pallbearers will be: Garry Turner, Donald Gus Turner, Tim Turner, Jeremy Coleman, Justin Turner, Mike Ford, Gerren Turner, Rob Lesley and Tony Caldwell. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Hospitalist Doctors at NMMC.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Friday and from 1 to 2 PM Saturday.
The family request that memorials be sent to the church of the donor’s choice.
