Johnnie Mae Lambert Davis, age 96, born September 8, 1927 to John Eustace Lambert and Linnie Mae Rackley Lambert. She was better known by all as “Mommie”. She passed away on January 6, 2024 surrounded by her loving family at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS. She was a member of Woodland Baptist Church. While raising her family, Johnnie Mae would sew for the public and also sewed nursing uniforms. Many hours were enjoyed watching her make clothing for her family. She was a factory worker and homemaker, most of those years being at Keystone and S & S Furniture in Pontotoc, MS. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend. Holiday family gatherings were very important to her; she always enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved handing out candy to the children at Halloween. She raised 10 children and had the patience of Job. She will be greatly missed by all. One thing is for sure … She lived a life that we all can learn from and she left her family a legacy of Love and Respect.
Survivors include her five daughters, Donna Sansing, Debbie Hester (Ray), Deadrie Tutor (Mark), Doris Ard and Daphne Burchfield; a son, Glen Davis (Christy); a daughter-in-law, Patricia Davis; two sisters, Callie Crump and Illene Bolek both of Tupelo, MS; sisters-in-law, Mable Taylor, Marie Kennedy and Carol Davis; grandchildren, Kerri Mapp Turner, Cody Hester, Teresa Lynn Davis, Heather Ray, Jessica Sansing (Jamie), Jake Tutor (Taylor), Josh Tutor (Madison), Ashley Miller (David), Bethany Wilburn (Nathan), Caitlyn Ard, Chase Burchfield (Brittany), Chandler Burchfield (Layla), Connor Burchfield (Brooke), Daniel Davis (Lyndsi), Chad Crouch; step-grandchildren, Charlotte Ledbetter (Eddie) and Mickey Ward (Christina); great-grandchildren; Olivia, Kash, Rori and Oakley Tutor, Briley Hill, Weston and Rylee Grace Miller, Dixie Mae and John Coy Wilburn, Cassidy and Peyton Davis, Destiny Hester, Chelsea and Gracie Turner, Kaylee Ray Griggs (Barrett), Miley Ray, Kylie, Marlie, Addie and Channing Burchfield, Brandon Davis (Brittany), Chandon Harcrowe (Makayla), Cameron Boone, Jalynn, Leanna, Mick, Paislee and Winston Ward, Kynlee and Aaron Ledbetter, Alivia Self, and great-great grandchildren, Aubrey Davis and Liam Harcrowe, a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hoyle Davis; an infant baby girl; and four sons, George, Gerald (Nut), Greg and John Davis.
Visitation will be from 12 PM to 2 PM, Monday, January 8, 2024 at Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc, MS with funeral following at 2. Rev. Justin Varnon will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home is honored to assist the Davis Family with the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Davis, Cody Hester, Jake and Josh Tutor, Chase, Connor and Chandler Burchfield, David Miller, Nathan Wilburn and Mickey Ward.
