SPC.Jeffery Kyle Davis, age 20, died Thursday, May 2, 2013 in Ecru. He attended both North Pontotoc High School and Itawamba Community College before joining the U.S. Army in August of 2010. He attended Basic Training and AIT at Ft. Benning, GA in October 2010, and graduated from the U.S. Army Infantry School in February of 2011 and from the U.S. Army Airborne School in March of 2011. He was assigned to the 173rd Airborne Infantry Battalion out of Vicenza, Italy in April 2011 and had served with his unit honorably during Operation Enduring Freedom in the Wardak Province, Chak District of Afghanistan from July 4, 2012 until March 18, 2013. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge for his courageous service. He loved music, enjoyed four wheeler riding and fishing and was an avid LSU Tigers fan. He was proud to serve his country as part of the U.S. Army. He was caring and compassionate to animals and had a huge and generous heart and a beautiful smile.
Services will be at 1 PM Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Browning Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc, with Rev. David Smith officiating; burial will follow in the Ecru Cemetery, with full Military honors. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife: Brittany Burke Davis; a son: Aaron Elijah Davis; his mother: Cheryl C.Dillow and husband Eric of Ecru, MS; his father: Jeffery Curtis Davis of Tupelo; his three sisters: Amber Michelle Davis, Tory Janelle Davis and Erica Diane Dillow, all of Ecru, MS; his grandparents: Michael and Sylvia Harris of Shannon, MS; his aunts and uncles: Lois Harris of Shannon, MS, Cynthia Collier, Carol Davis of Vina, AL, Mary Jo Stockton of Red Bay, AL, Mike Davis and wife Cindy of Fulton, MS, Jerry Lee Davis of Vina, AL, Earl Wayne Cantrell and wife Anita of Hodges, AL and Jennifer Hall of Tupelo, MS; numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Jerry Ellec Davis and Eleanor Davis; his uncles: Johnny Davis and Clifton Collier and a sister: Olivia Marie Dillow.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Friday and from 12 to 1 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
