James Truitt Powell, Jr., age 62, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at his residence. He was born October 17, 1956 to James Truitt Powell, Sr. and June Hattox Powell. He was a member of the Orchard Church in Tupelo. Truitt worked in manufacturing at Hunter Douglas and later at Ivy Fence Company before becoming disabled. He enjoyed woodworking, football, movies and going to the beach.
There will be a gathering of friends and family from 4 to 7 PM Friday, November 16, 2018, at Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Natalie Powell of Pontotoc, MS; one daughter, Brandy Ball (Andre) of Pontotoc, MS; one son, Jeremiah Way of Pontotoc, MS; one sister, Patrice McCrary (Mike) of Bowling Green, KY; one brother, Kent Powell (Jennie) of Pontotoc, MS; his mother-in-law, Donna Maurer of Owensboro, KY; and three grandchildren, Brianna Ball, Drayden Way and Brylin Way.
