Iris Pitts Richardson, 91, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Church Street Personal Care Home in Ecru. She was born June 27, 1919 to Walton and Hurley Hattox. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she enjoyed participating in the senior adult activities. She was a retired bookkeeper and office manager.
Services will be at 2 PM Monday, March 21, 2011 at Browning Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Sims and Rev. Mickey Gentry officiating, burial will follow in the Pontotoc City Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, Teresa Pitts Hooker, Thaxton; a son: Reuben S. Pitts, III (Janis) of Fredericksburg, VA; one sister: June Powell; one sister-in-law: Wilma Hattox; six grandchildren: Annalisa Lunn (Kevin), Cindi Webb (John), Tina Hooker and Lori Webb (Luther) all of Thaxton, MS, and Walton Pitts (Susan) and Richard Pitts, both of Fredericksburg, VA; nine great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Reuben Pitts, Jr., Leland Griffin and Woodrow Richardson; her son-in-law: Larry Hooker; three sisters: Lillie Van Hattox, Kathleen Bullen and Myra Burthardt; one brother: Wright Hattox and one grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Walton Pitts, Richard Pitts, Kevin Lunn, John Webb, Luther Webb, Chad Spears, Jason Ross and Christopher Webb.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 PM Sunday and from 12 to 2 PM Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 31 Washington Street, Pontotoc, MS 38863, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
