Carrie Ann McCluskey Ferguson, age 86, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024 at Sanctuary Hospice House. She was born on October 8, 1937 to Grady and Ijettia Salmon McCluskey. Carrie Ann was a life long member of West Heights Baptist Church. She was a health educator with the MS State Department of Health. Carrie Ann enjoyed working in her yard. She was collector of many “things”. She never met a stranger and could relay genealogical information for most everyone in the county. It was not unusual to see her and Rowdy (her dog) out riding because she said he wanted to go to town. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
Services will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at West Heights Baptist Church, with Rev. David Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in West Heights Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is honored to assist the family with the arrangements.
Carrie Ann is survived by her sons Terry (Donna) Ferguson, Jeff Ferguson and David (Vicki) Ferguson and a step-daughter Brenda (Larry) Foster. She was affectionately called Grandmother by her grandchildren: Patrick (JodiLyn)Ferguson, Presley (Caroline) Ferguson, Lee Michael (Taylor) Ferguson, Taylor (Noah) Mehmen, Braeden Ferguson, Olivia Ferguson, Scott (Jill) Foster, Susan (Doyle) Fowlkes. She lovingly leaves behind seven great grandchildren: Bridger Ferguson, Easton Ferguson, Logan Ferguson, Michael Scott Foster, Preston Foster, Curt Harmon, John Harmon. Carrie Ann also leaves behind two sister-in-laws: Faye Robbins, Jean Ferguson, a brother-in-law, Merle Ferguson and many cherished nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W. L. (Shorty) Ferguson, her son, Mike Ferguson and her parents, Grady and Ijettia Salmon McCluskey
Pallbearers will be Donny Taylor, Danny Taylor, Scott Foster, Lee Michael Ferguson, Patrick Ferguson and Presley Ferguson. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Ferguson, Larry Foster and Merle Ferguson.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Browning Funeral Home, and from 1:00 P.M. until service time on Wednesday at West Heights Baptist Church.
