Angela Roye McWhirter

Angela Roye McWhirter (Cruse) entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on February 10th, 2024. Angela, 79, was born on September 27th, 1944 in Pontotoc, Mississippi. She was the youngest of five to Mary Ella (Roberts) and Archie Drake Cruse.

Angela graduated from Algoma High School in 1962. She was class officer and Miss. Algoma her senior year. Following graduation she married Clyde Roye Jr. and had two children, Tammy Pearson and Scott Roye. Later, she married the love of her life, Noel Lynn McWhirter. They were married for 33 years until the time of her death. Angela was a devoted member of Midway Baptist Church where she served for over thirty years as treasurer and bookkeeper. Her service also included VBS director, WMU circle leader, and Sunday school teacher. Angela's career began as a bookkeeper for Pontotoc Co-Op for over thirty years, she then spent another 25 years bookkeeping at the Pontotoc Butane.

Angelas retirement years were spent with days full of fun with "Papa". These days consisted of work on the farm caring for their many cows- which she loved. They also enjoyed many lunch dates and hunting for treasures all over the county.

Fondly referred to as"Oma" by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Oma and Papa never missed an 0pportunity to see their grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was their biggest cheerleader and hero.

Angela was preceded in death by her parents, sisters- Jo Ann Roberson, Jimmie D. Edwards, Joyce White, a brother,

John. A.Cruse, and her grandson Andrew Mark Pearson.

In addition to her husband, survivors are Tammy Pearson of Jackson (Mark), Scott Roye of Pontotoc (Angie). Grandchildren, Hannah Grace Roye, (Josh Harlow) Mary Marie Bernardini (Matt), Gatlin Roye (Hope Williams), Great Grandchildren, Ella Caroline Bernardini and Matthew Pearson Bernardini. Along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 13th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with the service directly following at 12:00 pm. The visitation and service will be held at Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc, Mississippi. A family burial will be held at Gersham Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Gatlin Roye, Matt Bernardini, Josh Harlow, Kenny Roye, Patrick Roye, Mike Dearman, and Billy Parchman. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Edwards, Derrell Roberson and John Ray.

To honor Angela, In Lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Midway Baptist Church or Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.
