Bill was born on September 17, 1930 in Derby, CT to Wheaton and Victoria Wilson. He was predeceased by the love of his life and wife of 55 years, Rosemary. He will be missed by his sons Mark (Monique) and William Jr.; grandsons Benjamin (Marggie), David (Eneida), Thomas, and William; granddaughter Shannon Shepherd; great-grandsons Brandon and Maximus Shepherd; and great-granddaughter Madelyn Rose Wilson.
Bill served his country as a U.S. Navy Sailor from 1948-1952. He was a high school English teacher in Shelton, CT for more than 30 years, where he shared his love of literature with thousands of students. He loved to travel and traced his ancestry to John Howland, who came to America on the Mayflower in 1620.
Family and friends will celebrate Bill’s life during visitation hours on Monday, March 5, 2018 from 4 pm until 8 pm at Kraeer Funeral Home, 1199 East Sample Rd., Pompano Beach, FL. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, March 6th at Saint Gabriel’s Catholic Church, 731 N. Ocean Blvd, Pompano Beach, Florida. A memorial service and inurnment for family and friends in CT will be scheduled for later in the year at Mount Saint Peter Catholic Cemetery, 219 New Haven Avenue, Derby, CT.
