Thomas C. Oldensmith of Pompano Beach, FL, passed away unexpectedly on December 22, 2023, at the age of 79. Tom was born in Covington, KY, and grew up in Ft. Thomas, KY. He was a graduate of Newport Catholic High School. After trade school, he became a carpenter and spent many years in that trade, and eventually became owner of Oldensmith’s Inc. and supervised the building of BP gas stations in northern Kentucky. In 1994, after many cold winters working outside, Tom and his wife, Judi, decided to move to South Florida permanently to enjoy the warm, sunny weather. He continued working as a carpenter taking jobs in the big hotels in the area. He enjoyed playing golf, going to car and boat shows, walking the beach, bicycling, doing jigsaw puzzles, and being “Mr. Fixit” around his house or at the homes of friends. He was a master at installing crown molding! Over the years, he was a proud owner of several Corvettes and, most recently, he loved riding around in his 1990 red Corvette convertible. After the death of his wife, Tom met Marge and, for 12 years, they made happy memories together in Florida and New Jersey.
Tom was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Esther Oldensmith, and his wife, Judi Weithorn Oldensmith. He is survived by his sisters, Ann Brown (Don) of Ft. Myers, FL, and Covington, KY, and Beth Oldensmith of Covington, KY, and their families, and his loving companion, Marge McCloud, of Toms River, NJ, and her family.
Tom was a kind, gentle, quiet guy with a great smile. He will be sadly missed by the Oldensmith and McCloud families, and his many friends in Leisureville.
Per Tom’s wishes, no service is planned. Kraeer Funeral Home in Pompano Beach, FL, was charged with his care.
