Tom was born on July 9, 1928, in Cambridge, Massachusetts to Thomas and Margaret (Lawless) Barrows. After serving honorably in the Navy during WWII, Tom attended Boston College. He moved to Fort Lauderdale where he started a career in real estate followed by a successful business in horticulture as the owner of Kirk’s Pest Control. After his retirement, he and Marilyn built a home in the Florida Keys where they lived for 10 years before returning to Fort Lauderdale. Tom was an adventurer, traveling by sea throughout the Caribbean on their trawler, then by land across the U.S. in their camper. His years of boating included Commodore at the Seabird and Marathon Yacht Clubs. He was a devoted family man and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Tom is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marilyn (Flanagan) Barrows; his three daughters, Terri Neely (husband Kirk), Debbie Kearney (husband Butch), Mary Jane Noon (ex-husband John Henry); his five grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Amanda, Savanna and Nicholas; and his sister, Peggy Nix.Tom is predeceased by his son, Jim Barrows and three siblings, George Barrows, Mary Geoffrion and Bill Barrows.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11am. on Friday, January 20, 2023, at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, 1500 South Andrews Avenue, Pompano Beach, FL.
