Ron/Dad/Papa Gendreau finished his final inning with us on February 19, 2021. He was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on July 15, 1928 and resided there and in Dracut, MA until moving to Florida over twenty years ago.
Ron was born to Emile and Blanche (Alexander)Gendreau. He was pre-deceased by his beloved, youngest son Ronald (Jeff) Gendreau. Also surviving him are his wife, Colleen and two children:
Alan (Ruth Holland) of Highsprings, FL and Martha Tozier of Portsmouth, RI. Ron has seven grandchildren, Allison, Alexander, Brittnay (Andre Cruz), Ryan (Julianna) and Jeff Gendreau; Talitha (Russel) Pacheco and Larry Tozier. In addition, he was blessed with six great grandchildren: Lilah and Savannah Gendreau, Harper Cruz, Joey, Tyler, and Olivia Pacheco. His daughter-in-law, Suzanne Gendreau also survives him. He has many nieces and nephews including Susan Fortier of Dracut.
Following high school graduation, Ron served two years in the U S Army. Always a lover of sports, and a natural athlete, Ron's dream was to become a professional baseball player. This was achieved when he played ball in the minors for four seasons as a super shortstop. Sadly, he was permanently sidelined with a knee injury while sliding into second base. The joy of acknowledgement came later when he won a world series ring while playing in the senior softball world series tournament. He continued to play softball well into his eighties.
In his professional career, Ron went to night school for a time to Northeastern University to learn about the fledgling computer business. He spent most of his career as a software distribution manager for several computer companies.
Ron loved to swim and socialize with family and friends. He loved to attend church but sadly he was unable due to recent quarantine.
Ron/Dad/Papa will be sadly missed by all those he left behind.
