Robert (Bob) Chiusano, 94.9 years of age, of Tamarac Florida and formerly of Howard Beach, NY, is survived by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Robert was born and raised in Brooklyn. The youngest child of Maria and Donato. Bob was drafted into the Army WW II and served in North Africa. He was assigned to the motor pool to keep the trucks running. He drove around on a motorcycle, the only vehicle he did not have a license to drive. When he returned, he became an auto mechanic and worked with my Grandfather, Steve. Steve invited him home for dinner and that is when he met my Mother. And the rest is history, as they say. Sixty four years later, we had a beautiful summer with him, at the pool, at the batting range and playing pool with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
I will always remember my Dad making bicycles. He would find bikes and parts that people were throwing away, and make bikes for everyone. He had a fleet of bicycles in Howard Beach and in Florida. I was 30 years old when I finally got my banana bike. The one with the pink basket and tassels on the handlebars. Just two years ago, the put together his last fleet, preparing for a visit from his great grandsons.
Bob was not an easy Father, lots of rules. Those Army ways stayed with him. But he taught me that I could do anything that I put my mind to. That gave me the courage to stand up for whom and what I believed in. Thank you, Dad, luvya,
