The family moved back to Iowa to be closer to family before Rick was a year old. After several more moves the family settled on a farm in Iowa.
Rick was involved in various life activities. Active in 4H he learnt a work ethic by feeding and caring for cattle and pigs which he would show in the County Fair. The animals that were shown always got a ribbon. A good portion were blue.
Rick travel to Washington DC with specifically selected candidates from 4H leadership.
Rick wrestled starting in elementary school and continued through high school Rick was part of the Civil Air Patrol. He took and completed flying lessons although did not get his licence after finding out he was colour blind.
At an early age, Rick worked at North Western Bell starting out as an operator. He quickly went upwards and after only a couple of years was chosen to work on an installation in Australia.
Rick spent two years there and mastered skills like “elevator golf”, got his scuba diving certificate and explored the country.
Bing colour blind didn't stop Rick from being the best dressed anywhere he went his beloved Ralph Lauren shirts we are always crisply pressed and his outfits were always professional.
Upon returning to the US, he settled in Orlando FL soon after his parents and brother moved to Orlando also.
Rick spent the last 12 years being an integral part of the Carnival Cruise family as the manager of enterprise business continuity . While he worked full time he also helped in care of his mother father and brother at differing times.
Rick leaves behind his sisters Beth Sutton ( husband to Beth Pat ) who live in Orville Washington Rashmi Dube, Shailja Dubey (husband Daniel Beattie) who live in London England son to Shelliy and Raj Dubey who live in Reading England Uncle to Quinton Little who lives in Seattle WA , Jasmine Joanne and James Sutton who live in Orville Washington and Uma Beattie who lives in London England.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Shriners children hospital or your favourite charity Rick will be missed by too many to mention. He filled the dash between 1961 - 2023 with a lot of love.
