Basker, Richard, C, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Boca Raton, FL on September 14, 2012. Born January 8, 1919 in Boston, MA, Richard joined the U.S Navy during WWII and proudly served his country in Annapolis, MD and California before his final transfer to Miami. After the war, he founded the highly successful Basker Building Corporation in Miami Beach. Richard retired at age 55 and had homes in Cape Cod and Ocala before settling permanently at Boca Grove in Boca Raton. His hobbies were piloting small planes, playing golf and travel. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna, his son, David and his sister, Cecily. Richard married Beverly Ross of Boca Raton in 2004, she survives him along with his daughter-in-law, Gail, granddaughter, Allison and grandson, Oliver, his stepdaughters Susan Isenberg, Bunny Hedrick and her husband, Chris and their respective children and grandchildren. Richard will be missed by his friends and blended family.
Services will be held Wednesday September 19, 2012 at 11:30am at Boca Raton Mausoleum, 451 SW 4th Avenue Boca Raton 33432.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice by the Sea.
