Raymond Walter Wolowicz was born 17 August, 1935 to Peter and Jane Wolowicz of Detroit, Michigan. He lived in Hamtramck, Detroit, Michigan till he enlisted in the United States Air Force. While serving at Hellinikon Air Base Athens, Greece he met and married his wife of over 66 years Antonia (Nina) in 1957. Their only child Raymond Peter Wolowicz was born in Athens, Greece in 1958. Ray Sr. was eventually selected for special assignment as an Air Force nursing program recruiter in NYC, New York during the Vietnam conflict. He also served a one- year tour at Tan Son Nhut Air Base, South Vietnam 1967-68.
Ray Sr. was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1974 and entered the New York banking world. He eventually secured a position as a bank Vice President in Pompano Beach, FL in 1986. From that time on he and wife Nina were avid members of the Kiwanis Club and supporters/fundraisers for Equine Assisted Therapies of South FL in Coconut Creek. During this period, he also served as a Kiwanis Lt. Governor. This reflects the beliefs that he passed onto his son…always be good to family, friends, coworkers, acquaintances, and all others. He lived his life as an exceptional citizen and strived to be part of the solution.
Ray Sr. is survived by his wife Nina, son Ray, four grandsons and two great grandchildren.
