Dr. Nancy G. Terrel of Plantation, Fl, passed away on December 28, 2012 after a short illness. She was a resident of Broward County, FL since 1971 and an active member of Plantation Community Church.
Dr. Terrel was a lifetime educator beginning her career as a high school English Teacher in Birmingham, Alabama in 1968. She relocated to Broward County in 1971 and devoted 35 years to the Broward County School District as a teacher and administrator. Dr. Terrel held many positions including Director of Multicultural Education and Assistant Superintendent for Communications, Strategic Planning and Community Relations. Upon her retirement from Broward County Schools in 2006, Dr. Terrel went on to be the Director of Field Operations and a full professor for Nova Southeastern University, Fischler School of Education. She directed the Undergraduate Degree programs and served as a liaison between the University and the Broward County School District.
Dr. Terrel devoted over 40 years to educating students, teachers and administrators and served as a mentor to many who have gone on to serve in leadership positions. Her presence, influence and dynamic spirit will be missed but her contributions will live on.
A memorial service to honor Dr. Terrel will be held on January 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Plantation Community Church.
