He was born in DeKalb, Illinois on April 14, 1935 where he worked on the family farm while attending school in the area. He later began work with DeKalb Ag Research and met his wife, Judith “Judy” Horan. They were married on August 3, 1963.
Mickey lived in various cities while he grew his career in the Poultry industry. They eventually settled into Statesville, North Carolina where they lived for 17 years. At that point, Mickey moved into his dream job in poultry sales, which allowed him to travel all over the world.
With a passion for travel, Mickey loved to experience new cultures and food. He often shared stories of the “exotic” foods he had tried while traveling. In the end, his favorite destinations were the home of his ancestors, Ireland, or a cruise ship sailing anywhere.
Mickey is survived by his wife, Judy Horan of Pompano Beach and their son, Kevin, of Dallas Texas.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Pompano Beach, Florida in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Masses be said in his honor.
