He was the only boy with 5 sisters raised on his parent’s farm. Meck’s father owned a saw mill business.
Meck graduated high school and received a scholarship to play football at Mississippi State. Upon graduation, Meck enlisted in the U.S. Navy.
He served during WW2 as a physical fitness instructor in boot camp for recruits. In 1945 he met the love of his life, his future wife Jean Harron at a USO dance.
Meck and Jean married in 1947 and moved to Hillcrest Heights, Maryland located outside of the Washington DC area. They had 3 boys, Meck, Mike and Pat.
Meck was driven to succeed and by 1965, he owned 3 used car lots in Washington DC. The family took a vacation to Florida in 1965 and a year later, Meck sold his business and the family moved to Lighthouse Point.
Meck became a great fisherman and he loved the outdoor life.
He was preceeded in death by all of his sisters, and his beloved wife, Jean and his 1st son, Meck III. He is survived by his 2 sons, Mike (Joanie), Pat (Carol), 4 grandchildren Ryan (Katie), Michele, Bryan (Jenna) and Kelly. Meck was a friend to everyone he met. He was a larger than life person. A great father, a great husband, a great friend and a great man.
