Nys, Mary Eleanor - Mary "Ellie" Eleanor Wendell Nys passed away quietly on Monday, January 24th, 2011 in Boca Raton, Florida at the age of 84 after a tough battle with cancer. Ellie was the matriarch of her family of nine children and all their families instilling compassion, empathy, and warmth. Ellie always put the welfare of others ahead of her own. She was known for her love of art, classical music, and a good novel . Ellie is a lineal descendant of the Pilgrims of the Mayflower. Ellie was a graduate of D.C. General (Washington, D.C.) as an RN in 1968. She earned a Masters degree in Administration and Family Therapy and was a principal for the establishment the P Street Clinic in Georgetown, Washington, D.C. Ellie was preceded in death by her parents and brother John Jack C. Wendell, and is survived by her sister Patsy Black, niece Jane East, and her nine children; Pierre and Anna Nys of Pearland, TX, Paul and Mary Nys of Tequesta, FL, Theresa (Nys) and Gary Moore of Ijamsville, MD, John and Renee Nys of Tequesta, FL, Michele (Nys) and Scott High of Bertrand, NE, Mark and Angie Nys of Mt. Airy, MD, Matthew and Mary Ann Nys of Bethesda, MD, Michael and Claudette Nys of Jupiter, FL, Bernadette (Nys) and Ken Morgan of Pompano Beach, FL, and her twenty-six (26) grandchildren and eight (8) great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Kraeer Funeral Home, Pompano Beach, FL on Saturday, January 29th , 2:00 5:00 pm.
