Mary Morello

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mary Regina Morello, age 92 of Pompano Beach on April 27, 2015. Mary was born in York, PA one of three children of Maria and Salvatore Distefano. She attended St Patrick Catholic School and Church. On July 4, 1938 she married the love of her life, Joseph Morello. Together they raised three children: Mary Anne, Joyce Elaine, and Nicholas, and worked side by side in the restaurant and bar business. They owned and operated the West York Inn and Starlight Lounge. Mary was an excellent cook, played the piano, and loved to dance. She instilled in her children a love of music. Though she was born in this country, she spoke fluent Italian and was able to correspond with her husband’s family in Italy. In 1970, Mary and Joe moved to Pompano Beach and worked together at their Bresslers Ice Cream Shoppe. Mary is predeceased by her husband, Joseph Morello, and son, Nicholas Morello. She is survived by her daughters: Mary Anne Murray and Joyce Morello, by grandson, Douglas Morello, and by great-grandson, Shawn Morello. Mary was truly one of a kind. Those of us who knew and loved her will forever cherish her memory. The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Thursday, April 30th from 11:00am-12:30pm. The funeral mass will be held at St. Coleman Catholic Church on Thursday, April 30th at 1:00pm with burial to follow in Pompano Beach Cemetery.
