Mary V. Crossman, 90, formerly of Marlborough, MA, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2023 in Coconut Creek, FL. She was one of six children born to the late Edith (Rideout) and Lawrence Gillespie of Grand Falls, New Brunswick Canada. Mary was predeceased by her husband Roger, and siblings Ruth Kenneson, Elsie McCarthy, Ferne Stovlbeck, and Guy Gillespie.
Before moving to Florida in 2006, Mary worked for over 30 years at the Wayside Inn of Sudbury where she was known for her hard work, impeccable style and grace. She will forever be remembered for her legendary Tuesday before Thanksgiving Dinners, joy of driving her convertible, love of cooking and baking (cherry winks and pumpkin bread to name a few) and never ending quest for the perfect lobster roll (only Maine lobster, of course).
Mary is survived by her brother Fred of Ottawa Canada, daughter Karen Sexton and her husband Jonathan Sexton of Watertown, MA and son Scott Crossman and his wife Jacquelyn of Cotuit MA; grandchildren Justin Sexton and his partner Audrey Grant, Lily Sexton, Allyson Wilinski and her husband Bo, and Joshua Crossman and his wife Brooke; great grandchildren Josephine and Madeline Wilinski, and Peyton Crossman. Mary also has many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends that she always treated like family.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Matthias Church, 409 Hemenway Street, Marlborough, MA on Friday May 19 at 10:00am. Reception to follow.
The Crossman/Sexton families would like to thank the dedicated staff at Lindsay’s Alternative Care for the exceptional care and compassion shown to our mother for the past year.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Mary’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Hospital (stjude.org).
