Our beloved Kenneth "Chico" Rodriguez has earned his angel wings after a nearly two-year battle with cancer. He was briefly declared cancer-free, but the disease returned with a vengeance in April 2022, ultimately ending his life three months later. Kenny fought a tough fight until his last breath at 6:27 a.m. on July 5, 2022, the day after his favorite holiday.
Kenny was born in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, to Humberto and Viviana Rodriguez. He grew up as the youngest of six siblings in Oakland Park, FL, where he earned the title 'OP OG' for being so ingrained in the community. Kenny was an athlete who played baseball and football. As he got older, his sports of choice became fishing and motor combat. Kenny's favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys. He was rapper Eminem’s biggest fan.
Kenny was very creative and a highly talent artist. Despite the pain of battling cancer, Kenny still made time to fulfill his passion for drawing. Kenny often referred to his caretaker, who was his older sister Annie, as his "guardian angel" for keeping him comfortable throughout his cancer journey and until the very end.
Kenny was fun to be around. He loved fireworks, especially ones he made at home. He also enjoyed cooking and was known for making the best sandwiches, with extra mayo. He drank so much milk it would have been cheaper to buy a cow. He also loved pineapples. Above all, Kenny was happiest when surrounded by his family and friends. He treated everyone with high respect and was always prepared to lend a hand. He will be sorely missed.
Kenny was a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, and boyfriend. He is survived by his parents, Humberto Rodriguez and Viviana Rodriguez, and his siblings, Viviana Rodriguez Padilla, Kathryn Rodriguez, Luz Castillo Junior Rodriguez, Elvis Rodriguez, and Johnny Rodriguez.
Kenny leaves behind his nieces and nephews, Princess Nilda Jean, Daniel ''Chuchu'' Padilla Jr., Joel Padilla, Stephanie Gomez, Vanessa Gomez, Mauricio Gomez, Rico Rodriguez, and Emmy Rodriguez.
Kenny leaves a void in the hearts of his godparents, Carmen Rodriguez and Luis Rodriguez, and his girlfriend of six years, Sabrina Brice.
Left to cherish Kenny's memory are his aunts, Titi Yuya, Tata, Chuni, Carmita, Lucy, Celia, and Juanita, and his uncles, Tio Yuyo and Tio Jimmy.
