He was born in California to Masazo and Cho Inouye, who immigrated from Japan. He grew up in California until his family was interned during WW II at Tule Lake Segregation Center. Afterward, he voluntarily enlisted in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1949. While serving in Japan, he met Toshiko (nee Iseri). After discharge, he became a medical photographer with the University of Miami and Jackson Memorial Hospital. After the immigration laws changed, he and Toshiko Iseri were married in 1954. He then went on to graduate from Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry in 1963. He and Toshiko relocated with their family to Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, where he practiced general dentistry for 33 years. After serious Bible study and thoughtful consideration, he became a follower of Jesus around 1985. He was also involved in the leadership of Boy Scouts, an interest and passion which began at Tule Lake. After retiring in 1997, he and Toshiko volunteered at the Caridad Center, a charitable health clinic, in Boynton Beach, and participated in dental missions to Latin America. He had a great love for his family and was so delighted in having seven great-grandchildren in the past four years.
Kazuo Denis Inouye is preceded in death by his wife, Toshiko. He is survived by Hayashi Mark Inouye (son) and Sandra Inouye, Mayumi June Ridgeway (daughter) and Mitchell Ridgeway, grandchildren (and great-grandchildren): Joshua and Candice Inouye (Denis, Charlotte), Hannah and Ben Field (Walter, Arthur), David and Harriet Inouye (Ezer, Lyla) , Elizabeth and Jordan Lavender, Michelle and David Bishop (May), and Matthew Ridgeway.
