RECEIVED FROM FAMILY ON SAT SEPTEMBER 5, 2015
Kathleen “May” Matthews was born December 24, 1925 at Halfway tree on the island of Jamaica in the West Indies. She never knew her parents they died before she was 4years old she was raised by her aunty till she was old enough to go to Kingston Jamaica where she met the love of her life Manley Matthews.
Against all odds they started a family: her first daughter Marjorie was born then her only son Ronald was born before migrating to London England 1955. There she worked as a nurse’s aide at Kings College Hospital. While in London 2 more girls were born Jeanette and Vivien.
After visiting New York in the 60’s Kathleen decided she wanted to move to the USA. With resistance her family relocated in 1972 to the Bronx.
Eventually they retired to Florida where she received the Lord Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Although she was not able to attend her church regularly in her later years she remained strong in her faith. Witnessing and inspiring everyone she came in contact with.
Mummy was a very kind, loving compassionate person and generous she would give you the shirt off of her back.
This gentle calm powerful spirit was called home on Wednesday September 2, 2015 to be with the Lord.
She leaves to cherish her memories her beloved husband of 59years Manley daughter Marjorie Mouteri son Ronald Matthews daughter Jeanette Dickerson daughter Vivien Dixon , their spouses 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and so many friends, we will never know this side of Heaven
